Project Overview
From 2022 into 2023, New England based auto care specialists Berube’s Auto Care has shown 551% user growth in organic Google traffic YoY.
We utilized a grand total of zero paid ads with our traffic strategy, opting to instead implement a grassroots SEO campaign.
Local results are not always difficult to achieve in smaller markets, but we were very pleased when we started noticing that Berube’s was ranking for competitive state-wide keywords, not strictly local searches in their city.
Knowing that Google loves to display helpful, educational content in the search results, our SEO strategy was based on creating original content, targeting keywords relevant to the client’s auto care niche.
The client’s website was already running WordPress, which made it an easy choice to setup a blog to organize and display our new content. A quick preview:

HIGHLIGHTS
551% user growth from organic Google traffic YoY
Top 4 Google positioning for competitive state-wide searches
Top 5 Google positioning in local market for all major keywords in client industry
Highlighting the client’s existing services was a major part of our SEO strategy. After all, if the traffic you’re driving isn’t interested in your services, then what good is it doing for your business? One example of this is the keyword “maine state inspection”. We saw a big surge in traffic after landing on page 1 for this keyword early in 2022. Clicks from Google search doubled within a 3 month period
Zooming out further, a YoY comparison for February through May of 2022 (versus the same period in 2023) shows a huge increase in organic search traffic from Google. 551% user growth, and 557% in new users.
The screenshots from Google Analytics below illustrate which channels our traffic is utilizing to land on Berube’s website. The blue represents organic Google search.
Google search accounted for 39% of our total traffic flow for February through May of 2022. Comparatively, for the same time period in 2023, organic search climbed to 88%, representing a 125% YoY increase.
Notice how all other channels in the pie chart below shrink as the blue (organic search traffic) balloons in the top figure:
